Games Day #1: Fairy Tale
Si he elegido este juego para dar inicio a esta sección, se debe a una sencilla razón: fué el primero que me compré (bueno, me lo regalaron, pero eso es lo de menos) cuando decidí iniciar mi andadura en el mundillo de los juegos de mesa. Y aunque haya otros juegos con que den más juego a la hora de elaborar estrategias complejas, putear al contrario o con componentes más bonitos, siempre tendrá un lugar especial entre mi selección de favoritos. Sentimental que es uno.
Es un juego de cartas, el tema de los componentes es muy sencillo: un único mazo de 1oo cartas, con unas ilustraciones realmente preciosas, tanto que sería una pena que se estropeasen; por lo que las cartas están enfundadas para protejerlas del roce al barajarlas y del uso durante la partida.
Como no es la intención de estos artículos hacer un repaso exhaustivo a la mecánica del juego, baste decir que es muy sencilla, tanto que se pilla en la primera partida. No hay fases de planificación, negociación ni nada. Simplemente, los jugadores se van pasando manos de cartas y eligen una de ellas, hasta haber elegido cinco, y luego se seleccionan tres para que puntúen. Cuando cada jugador tenga un total de doce cartas seleccionadas, se cuentan los puntos y se determina el ganador. Sencillo, verdad? El truco está en saber qué cartas elegir mientras se pasen las manos: a veces es buena idea coger una carta que sabemos va a beneficiar a otro jugador, aunque no sea la que más nos interese a nosotros, y jugar las cartas con efectos especiales con picardía.
Y las partidas sólo duran 10-15 minutos, lo que lo convierte en un juego ideal como entremés entre dos juegos largos, o cuando no se dispone de mucho tiempo; a lo que hay que añadirsu sencillez, que hace que sea accesible para jugar con la familia, o con gente que no le guste aprenderse un manual de treinta páginas para jugar, que los hay (y de más también). Por no olvidar que con su tamaño puede llevarse sin problemas de viaje o a cualquier sitio para unas partidas rápidas.
En definitiva, Fairy Tale es un juego ligero y rápido, y puede ser perfecto para suplantar a juegos más clásicos como el mus o la brisca. Puntuación: 3/5
