Games Day #2: Ciudadelas
El Games Day de hoy trata de otro de mis primeros juegos, el Ciudadelas 2ª edición, publicado por Edge, lo mismo que el Fairy Tale. El objetivo de Ciudadelas es muy sencillo: los jugadores compiten entre sí por ver quién construirá la más gloriosa ciudadela, representada mediante las cartas, al tiempo que se ayudan con las habilidades especiales de diferentes personajes que se eligen al inicio de cada turno: es posible obtener más dinero, construir más rápido, asesinar, robar, destruir los distritos de otros jugadores… pero debes recordar que ellos también pueden hacertelo a tí.
El juego se compone de 98 cartas magníficamente ilustradas, 30 contadores de plástico que representan monedas de oro, y un dado de seis caras que debieron de introducir por error en esta edición del juego.
La mecánica del juego es muy sencilla: al principio de cada ronda de juego se elige un personaje, empezando por el jugador que tenga la corona, la cual se obtiene eligiendo al Rey como tu personaje. A continuación los jugadores realizan sus turnos, pero en vez de hacerlo en sentido de las agujas del reloj, el jugador con la corona los va llamando según un orden establecido por un número que aparece en las cartas. Cuando el personaje de un jugador sea nombrado, éste deberá elegir entre coger dos monedas o dos cartas del mazo, descartando una de ellas; para a continuación si lo desea construir un nuevo distrito de su ciudad, además de utilizar la habilidad especial de su personaje.
Hay que destacar que es en los personajes donde se encuentra la auténtica salsa del juego. Aunque en principio nadie sabe que personaje ha elgido el resto de jugadores, pueden hacerse una idea aproximada dependiendo del momento en el que cogieron la carta, y teniendo en cuenta la situación actual del juego. Entonces entra en juego la estrategia más aguda y el faroleo. Elegirás, al Obispo, aprovechando que tienes tres distritos eclesiásticos para obtener dinero rápidamente, o cogerás al mago para librarte de las iras del asesino? Escogerás al Arquitecto para construir a mayor velocidad, o al Mercader para evitar que tu rival se aproveche de sus distritos mercantiles?
Como véis puede dar lugar a muchos piques si la gente lo coge con ganas. Y lo mejor de todo: pueden jugar hasta ocho (8) personas! Pero eso sí, aunque la caja ponga que es para 2-8 jugadores, no lo intentéis con menos de cuatro, o se perderá toda la gracia del juego. La duración de las partidas dependerán principalmente del tamaño del grupo y de lo directas que sean las estrategias del mismo, aunque por lo general rondán los 60-90 minutos. Las reglas son tan sencillas como las del Fairy Tale, y tiene las mismas ventajas de transporte debido a su tamaño.
En resumen, un gran juego de estrategia y faroleo que puede dar mucho de sí. Puntuación: 4/5
