Games Day #3: Space Hulk
Ha pasado algo de tiempo, pero he aquí una nueva entrada de la sección, dedicada esta vez al genial Space Hulk.
He de confesar que no era este el juego que quería reseñar. Antes prefería haber hablado de uno o dos juegos de cartas más; y en cualquier caso, hubiera preferido comenzar con otro juego de mesa. Pero por una serie de circunstancias, quedé con unos colegas en que les enseñaría el juego, y ya que estaba, aproveché para hacer un reportaje fotográfico.
La idea es simple: un jugador controla a los Marines espaciales, que tienen que complir una serie de objetivos determinados por la misión que se está jugando, mientras que el otro jugador trata de impedirlo hordas de alienígenas mediante. Piensad en aquella escenas pasilleras de Alien, y os haréis una idea aproximada del tema. Pero no será fácil para el jugador Marine Espacial alzarse con la victoria: su adversario cuenta con refuerzos ilimitados, y la pérdida de un sólo soldado es un revés difícil de reparar.
Las mecánicas son bastante sencillas, y en unos pocos turnos ya controlas el sistema de puntos de acción de que dispone cada miniatura para actuar. Y para añadir ese toque de tensión que supone enfrentarse a unos bichos que no paran de moverse mientras vas embutido en una superarmadura tamaño armario ropero, el jugador Marine tiene tiempo limitado por un reloj de arena para llevar a cabo su estrategia. Esto, unido a la mayor velocidad, número y simplicidad estratégica de los alienígenas (sólo tienen ataques cuerpo a cuerpo), significa que el desafío está en llevar a los Marines a la victoria, por lo que el propio juego sugiere que ambos jugadores se vayan intercambiando los puestos para disfrutar de ambos puntos de vista.
Esta reedición especial que hizo Games Workshop es una auténtica chuchería para los aficinados, y algo que los fans llevaban pidiendo desde hacía años: la gran cantidad de componentes, miniaturas exclusivas, piezas, fichitas y la gran calidad del producto lo convirtieron en un objeto de deseo que bien valía su precio, alrededor de 70-80 pavos, si no recuerdo mal. Pero pasa lo que pasa, que siempre que salen estas ediciones limitadas, no tardan en aparecer especuladores que acaparan ejemplares para luego hacerse de oro en el ebay.
En conclusión, Space Hulk es un juego muy divertido, pero tiene dos grandes problemas en mi opinión: sólo pueden jugar dos personas (o tres, en las misiones con diez marines y aplicando algunas reglas caseras), y se pierde demasiado tiempo sacando, montando y recogiendo los componentes. Eso sin olvidar que hacerte con una copia a un precio razonable es poco menos que una quimera, por lo que o estás podrido de pasta, o tendrás que hacerte un juego casero (o engañar a un amigo que lo tenga para que te deje jugar…)
